In The Ladies

Saturday night and I’m lettin loose
Sparkly dress on with my cowboy boots
My hair’s super big - got my nails did
Sipping on a tinnie on the train to London Bridge
Working like a mutha from Monday to Friday
Got a babysitter now I’m ready to slay
Off to the pub then on to the club
Tell that fella over there, baby hold my cup
I’m not heading for the dance floor
I don’t like to strut my stuff
If you wanna find me
And my Dorisses too
We’ll be hanging out
In the ladies loo
In the ladies
We’re hanging out
In the ladies
Put the world to rights
In the ladies
Mending broken hearts
I just made some new best friends
Fellas wonder what we’re doing in the loo
Plotting and scheming and having a poo
Making a face Taking up space
Baby, the ladies is a happening place!
They wonder why it takes so long to have a wee
We’re having a party in the WC
Making a choice, despair or rejoice
It’s only in the ladies we can hear our voices
I’m not heading for the dance floor
I don’t like to strut my stuff
If you wanna find me
And my Dorisses too
We’ll be hanging out
In the ladies loo
In the ladies
We’re hanging out
In the ladies
Put the world to rights
In the ladies
Mending broken hearts
I just made some new best friends
In the ladies
It’s gender-inclusive
In the ladies
In the club in the ladies
In the ladies
With my new best friends
Honey hold my drink cos I’ll be a while
I’m not heading for the dance floor
I don’t like to strut my stuff
If you wanna find me
And my Dorisses too
We’ll be hanging out
In the ladies loo
In the ladies
That’s where it’s at
In the ladies
That’s where it’s at
In the ladies
That’s where it’s at

Wonderwomen

Panic on the school run
Kids are starting fights
Cat piss on the homework
Pants outside my tights
And I forgot to brush my teeth
And the baby's nappy smells
But we make it to the gates
And I'm saved by the bell
Superwoman!
Wonderwoman!
Everywoman!
You're doing fine!
Working through my lunch break
And I dream of 9 to 5
But my boss is on my back
So I do 9 to 9
And I'm working in the evening
And I'm working on the train
While my boss is on the golf course
Working on his game
Superwoman!
Wonderwoman!
Everywoman!
You're doing fine!
Superwoman in the kitchen
Battling teatime
Wonder Woman in the boardroom
Working overtime
Why live beyond your powers
Trying so hard to fly?
You don't need to be a hero
Cos you're doing fine
Superwoman!
Wonderwoman!
Everywoman!
You're doing fine!

The Girl From Clapham

I never knew it was Gordon
The guy who came from Morden
His face was cute and handsome
So that's when we began some
Adventure most romantic
Impassioned snogging antics
He said I wasn't common
His chat-up lines were rotten
We rented an apartment
And sat there in the darkness
Our income for domestics
Could not afford electrics
Till he got a job on Mondays
Flogging knock-off undies
And when we got the lecky
He just sat there watching telly
I put up blinds and pictures
He wanted to get hitched but
Our money we'd be needing
For another mouth for feeding
He said that I had trapped him
He didn't know how it happened
I told him in his anger
That it takes two to tango
We squabbled through the winter
I felt and he drank bitter
He worked from dawn to evening
While I did all the cleaning
And cleared up all the crap that
He left around the flat and
It seemed I was in prison
As a girl in my condition
And when we had the baby
He said he'd help me maybe
He tried to make an effort
But pretty soon he left it
Sold the telly for a pony
Then pissed it up with Tony
Spent weekends like a loafer
Passed out on the sofa
And now I'm two years older
I'm living with a soldier
I swapped a drunken loser
For a fighter and abuser
He's always on his travels
And so my life unravels
It's just me and my daughter
Alone in Army quarters
Now I'm sitting in the barracks
Peeling spuds and carrots
Cooking stew and dumplings
The radio for company
And now the stupid beggar
Has sent another letter
With his and my dysfunction
We're really up the junction
